News: The virtual launch of the website is expected to take place at the end of March / beginning of April 2021. Interested colleagues and students are welcome to register for the public launch by email (contact: bwagner@kunst.uni-frankfurt.de / l.etz@stud.uni-frankfurt.de)!

The processing of the virtual implementation of the contributions and images is progressing well. Through the collaboration with the University Library Frankfurt, many of the images shown in the exhibition can be integrated as digital copies from the holdings (Occulta Collection, Senckenberg Collection). In addition, illustrations linked via the new image standard IIIF are integrated into the ‚dynamic knowledge platform‘: For example, Matthäus Merian the Elder’s richly designed print Calendarium naturale magicum perpetuum[…], which is shown as a digital copy via the interface of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. The integrated zoom makes it possible to view the print down to the smallest detail.

Moreover, we are pleased to announce that in Room VI Materielle Kultur der Alchemie further contributors and specialists who deal with the subject of art and/or alchemy are added for the Merian-Alchemy-Project. They will share their knowledge on the dynamic platform. These include Dedo von Kerssenbrock-Krosigk (Düsseldorf), Karsten Gaulke (Kassel) and Rainer Werthmann (Kassel).
