Our project was awarded the Bethmann Study Prize 2021!

As we are happy to announce, on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, our project “Matthäus Merian d.Ä. und die Bebilderung der Alchemie um 1600” was awarded the Johann Philipp von Bethmann-Study Prize 2021 by the Frankfurt Historical Commission. During the award ceremony which had originally been planned for the beginning of the year and had to be postponed due to the corona pandemic, Berit Wagner & the Merian-Forschungsgruppe received the Bethmann Prize from City Councilor Bernd Heidenreich in the historic ambience of the Frankfurt Institute for City History.

The Bethmann Prize was established in 1984 to honor research achievements concerning the history of the city of Frankfurt. Our project is the first digital platform to be rewarded. We would like to sincerely thank the Historical Commission and the founder’s wife Bettina Freifrau von Bethmann for the award! Further thanks go to everyone who supported and continues to support the project, to our cooperation partner, the Johann Christian Senckenberg University Library, and of course to the numerous researchers and students whose contributions fill the platform with life!
